Nombres, Hora, y Tarea...Importante
Hola, amigos.
Nombres son importantes!!!
Por Favor,
Escriban, Write,
Nombre (spanish english ej: Aurora Rottman)
Fecha (10-8-2010 remember in Spanish DATE-Month-Year)
Bloque (Purple-2 or P2)
Name, Date, and Block MUST go on homework!!!
If the work is late, write LATE.
If you are Absent put in the Absent drawer (top of the clear drawers)
This is muy importante. I am trying to put grades in today and it is very hard when things are missing on your papers with so many of you in my Spanish 1 classes. Sometimes the papers get mixed up. Or like today, i exactly knock them off my desk and all the classes get mingled. When it only says your name or block 2, it takes awhile to find which class that is. I am trying to learn the names pronto---but it's hard at first when i have your English name on Infinite Campus and your Spanish name in my head! =)
Please do me a favor and help me out so grades can stay current. =)
Teacher Net Homes
If you had trouble with teacher net homes....here is why:
It only works at school. Lo siento....sorry ;)
Also: you go to teachernethomes on the dock of your computer.
Log in is whatever you use to login to your computer
Find krottman (in purple)
You have to go to PUBLIC first.
Then Spanish 1 stuff contains all your music videos, lyrics, alphabet songs, etc.
I will get the Shakira video in there soon. If not Sunday, Monday afternoon at the latest.
Estoy muy feliz porque you guys liked it, too. =)

La Tarea
Hoy es viernes. Y mi regalo es......drum roll please....no tarea!!!! No homework!
But, just because you have a break o un recreo.... doesn't mean there is no trabajo, o no work.
Por favor:
Compre (Buy) headphones or earbuds. Mandatory. Shot me an email NOW if you won't be able to get them.
Study the commands for la prueba, or quiz. It will be martes o miercoles, tuesday or wednesday depending on your class. Practice on the Quia website under Classroom Commands.
Be sure you know how to respond to:
¿Cómo te llamas?
¿Cómo estás?
You won't be able to get into class without answering those questions. =) If you struggle though, I just might help you. Remember, success in the class comes from trying trying trying! Work with me, and I will do my best to get you speaking Spanish successfully. We're a familia here.

From Sr. Jones
Kelly,
When I heard that you had received 5 emails from kids about me, I
almost cried! I can't believe that this collaboration has had that
effect on them. I'd be happy to "adopt" them as "honorary members".
:)
By the way, I've moved our post to the front page, so now all the
visitors can access it! As more classes start up, it is possible that
other classes might even join in with us.
I'm so glad that they liked the music. Too, I can't wait to see their videos!

Practica para la prueba
¡¡¡Hola mis amigos!!!!!
Our prueba, or quiz, for classroom commands will be on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you would like to practice, click on Quia under Helpful Links. I have made some fun games to help you review the commands. Once you click on Quia, go to Classroom Commands under Activities. There is a wordsearch, concentration, and matching game available to help you prep so you can knock the quiz right out of the ballpark.
Also: Su tarea, o homework...
Don't forget to bring your signed syllabus if you have not already. Get those 50 pts!!!!
If you have not done the alphabet worksheet, do it now for HALF credit.
If you did not finish the Accentos side of the worksheet, complete it. I will be collect it first thing tomorrow. Gold-4th block, we did not get that far in class today....so you have no homework, we will do that in class.
BRING HEADPHONES or e-mail me at kelly.rottman@mccracken.kyschools.us by Saturday if you have trouble purchasing them.
Our MacBook Policy goes into affect starting Monday.....review it, follow it, know it....I will be enforcing it.
Extra credit: You have until the end of the month to bring a classroom supply for 5 pts. We need: Klennex, dry erase markers, hand sanitizer, scissors, construction paper, crayons, colored pencils, markers, napkins, glue, etc. All that stuff will be used for fun projects in class..think making papel picado (like you see hanging in the classroom), art projects, timelines, burrito kid books etc.. I am starting to build a collection for us...but it takes time. So if think you need the extra credit, run by the dollar tree and bring it in. You cannot exceed 3 items (15 pts). =) It is the last extra credit chance you have until Midterms.

Purple Day Monday, Gold Day Tuesday
Great class today! I know it may seem overwhelming at first, but I promise once we master the alphabet, things will slow down. If you do your work and pay attention in class, I really do believe you will do fine in class. Don't get discouraged!
To help you out, here are some tips:
For the vowels, you can use the stapled study guide and jut write a, e, i, o, u.....or if it is easier, you may use the notes we wrote and say ah (A), ay (e), ee (i), oh (o) oo (u).
Here is a bit more of your homework, so you may see what I expect and hopefully answer some questions:
2) Wisin y Yandel:
doble, i, ese, i, ene i griega i griega, a, ene, de, e, ele
w i s i n y y a n d e l
3) Enrique Iglesias
E, ene, ere, i, cu, u, e I, ge, ele, e, ese, i, a, ese
e n r i q u e I g l e s i a s
Don't forget that you only need to do the side with the pictures. We will do the side with accents on it next class. The homework is due Wednesday for Purple Day and Thursday for Gold Day. E-mail me any questions you have. I'm here to help!!!!!!!!!

Alphabet Song
The alphabet song is available in the Public Folder under my name (Krottman).
Once you are in that folder, go to Spanish 1 Stuff.
From there, hit control and click at the same time.
Go to open with and scroll to Other.
Search (where the magnifying glass icon is) and type Itunes.
Scroll down until you find the Itunes icon (cd with a music note on it).
The video will save to your Itunes Video Library.
Open Itunes, go to Videos, and click on the video to play it.
If you have problems, please e-mail me at kelly.rottman@mccracken.kyschools.us. If a lot of us have trouble, I will show you you how to do this step-by-step in our next class.
Enjoy!

Spanish-English Dictionaries
Well, class, it was brought to my attention that some of us are having trouble finding the dictionaries! Don't worry!
If you check at Walmart, they have basic dictionaries for about $4 to $5 there in the book section.
At Books-A-Million the dictionaries are located towards the back right of the store. If you find the aisle with dictionaries, go all the way across to the Spanish section. They have several dictionaries available.
If you don't like either of those options, or you are still not sure which one to buy, I will create a list this week with those interested in purchasing a dictionary. I will then order the dictionaries as a group from Books-A-Million, and when it comes in, you can go to Books-A-Million, tell them you are in my class, and then purchase the dictionary.
Either way, we will talk about this in our next class. So, don't worry if you had trouble this weekend.
