This isn't really Spanish, but I love the positive and it is something worth considering in your life.

Parents or Padres
Grades will be updated in Infinite Campus over the holiday weekend so check Tuesday-on of next week. I have quiz scores, 3-4 graded homework assignments, daily grades, and video/test scores to enter and after Tuesday grades will be current. Any late work will also be put in from students who have a zero now due to an absence and had to turn stuff in late.
STUDENTS WHO MISSED THE QUIZ THIS WEEK: You have ONE week to make-up that up. Schedule at least one day in advance. You will NOT have time in class to do so.

Silly Bands
The Spanish silly bands are in. You may stop by my room to pick them up if you ordered them.
If you already paid, you are marked on the list, so just pick them up.
If you have not paid the 75 cents per pack then you have to pay me before I will give them to you. I have some change, but not much, so try to bring exact amounts.
The bands have: a sombrero, México, maracas, guitar, and "hola"
I am available before school, during school, during lunch, and about 10 minutes after the bellrings--I have after school duty in the front lobby, so you will have to wait for me in order to be there before you pick them up to make sure that only those who paid receive them.

Gold 3rd and 4th Block
Gracias amigos. The sub left a GLOWING review of you all which brightened my day and made me adore you even more--who thought I could, right? She said you were the best classes she has ever had to sit with and that if I ever need a sub to please call her again. I waited for the surprise to come...but then I realized it only reinforced what I already knew about each of mis estudiantes: best kids in the school; all 150ish of you. =)
Anticipate getting back to work on Friday. You will have a few minutes to get those videos to me. Then I will tell you how to write descriptions of your paintings--so you WILL need the rubric you were given Monday. While you write, I will conference with each of you. We will watch the video and grade it as we comment on what went right, what needs to work, and overall quality. You can then tell me if you want to show it in class, and we will start doing that as our bellringers next week. I will also get them and our pictures on the Iweb this weekend.
I will be helping advise our wonderful group of Friends of Rachel this year, so I will start telling you all about it in the comings weeks. Our goal for the year will be to really help make the ENTIRE school a big family, just like it feels like in our class. I think everyone should be as happy as I am to be at LOHS and we are going to make it happen. Think about joining up in the next month when we begin the membership drive. You all are great examples of kind, hardworking, friendly, respectful, good people, and would be such an asset to the group. While you wait for the group to get rolling, I encourage all of you to start reaching out to people you may not know who need a friend. Saying good morning or asking how someone is can really make a positive difference in someone's life. Start helping clean up our cafeteria after lunch. If someone's sits alone at lunch, invite them to join you: who knows? They could be really really cool and you didn't even know it. If you and someone else are fighting, let it roll off your back. Instead of focusing on the bad, just move on and keep that chin up and be the better person. Let's see what can happen in just a few weeks and I bet you will like it.
Missed you tons today! Nos vemos pronto--see you soon!

Sub Tomorrow--Gold Day Wed.
I won't be in class tomorrow afternoon because I will be completing training so I can work with the Rachel's Challenge group this year.
Remember: Be respectful to your sub. Don't let me down guys. It's hard enough not seeing your smiling faces, Gold Block, so don't make me come back disappointed. I trust yall. =) If there is a problem though, expect a write up and a private dentition when I see you again. Best all around if you guys be just as FANTASTICOS as you are when I'm in the room. :p
Music is allowed if you have headphones. If you need share them, that's fine. However, COMPUTERS MUST BE CLOSED HALFWAY. No computers. None. One person doesn't listen, then no music. Sub knows it.
Helping and working in families is allowed. BUT once again, get too loud, the sub will tell to do it on your own. No bueno. =) Talk QUIETLY. Make it a smooth day. =)
Next: Lots of work. Get those videos finished. Put them in teachernet files for your block. The sub has directions. If teachernet / internet is down...try library. Still fails: get the external hard drive. DO NOT USE IT AS A BACKUP FOR YOUR COMPUTER when prompted, say no or cancel. It will delete my files if you say yes, and then I will cry. No bueno. =) Return the drive to the sub.
Then: Off to get your vocab. I don't like the textbook, but yall need some more words to work with. Copy the vocab. Tedious yes, graded, yes. Necessary to have at home for reference: muy, or very importante. Do it quickly, it will go fast, and don't complain. When it gives you a page number, go to the page and get those words. Don't take the book home.
Then: get those worksheets done. Anything leftover is homework. Post questions on the worksheet, here. Since I'm not there to help you, I will answer your questions on the blog and try to offer some friendly tips and answers for guidance. Try. Try. Try. Late work isn't accepted and we will only take a few questions in class before I collect them.
LEAN LOS DIRRECIONES. Read the directions. Read the information to help WITH the questions. It should be fairly easy, I promise. Easy-peazy or I wouldn't give it to you when I'm away.
Se extraño, estudiantes. Nos vemos viernes. Miss you and will see you Friday. Can't wait for the videos.
Post if lost, I promise to help. Or e-mail, yall should know it's kelly.rottman@mccracken.kyschools.us

Dictionaries Are In!
Please go pick up your ordered dictionary at Books-A-Million. Just tell the person at the register that you are getting the Spanish-English dictionary for Ms. Rottman's LOHS class. It should be 6.99 plus tax. Please let me know if you can no longer get the dictionary. Try to get them within 1-2 weeks before they make me buy them all. =)
Spanish Silly Bands
Your Spanish Silly Bands have been ordered and should arrive in a 1-1.5 weeks. If you signed up, don't forgot that your 75 cents will be due before you I give them to you. I ordered some extra in case you decide you want some too and didn't sign up. Don't worry.
