I just wanted to let you know that of the poems I have received thus far, I am so impressed! I recommend comparing your poem to the first videos we did over the lost child. I think you will be just as thrilled as me to hear the changes in your pronunciation! Thank you for taking it seriously and wow-ing me!

Missing Anything?

I have found the following items in my room. If they are yours, please send me an e-mail to kelly.rottman@mccracken.kyschools.us to claim. The backpack is filled with a lot of things, but I do not want to invade your privacy by going through it to see who it belongs to. I have a suspicion you might need it during Fall Break. I will be in town for most of it, so if you or a parent e-mails me to claim it and needs it during Fall Break, we can try to arrange to meet it at the school for pick up one day when I am there.

They are lovely and I hope you will share with each student that we intend to display these at Central Office.

Grades

Grades will be updated by Monday evening if not sooner. If you have completed something, but still have a 0 recorded, it is because I prefer to grade all papers, then put them in one class at a time.
Check Monday evening to see all grades.

Fall Break Homework

Tarea durante las vacaciones (Homework during Fall Break)

You have a few things to do for Fall Break, don't forget!


1) Make flash cards for column 1 verbs. You may do a hard copy or a quizlet set. You will USE them in class and OUT to study for those tests. It will help you, I promise. I will grade it. So do it now. It won't take long! If you do them on quizlet, you can play games AND print them out. So I prefer that.

2) Get Pizza Project pictures. We will do the writing on Monday/Tuesday. You need 3 pics for each section

1) Yo soy (I am ....)

2) Mi mejor amigo (amiga) es... (My bff is)

3) _____ y yo somos (_____ and I are .... ) **Insert a name (friend, celeb, parent, whoever. we are...)

4) ____ y ____ son (___ and ____ are) **Insert names (friends, celeb, whoever. They are...)

3) Record Poem. Pick 1 poem from handout. Record yourself reading the poem in PhotoBooth. I will give you time to put it in my dropbox, but not to record after Fall Break. Please remember it is a poem. Read it like one. I'd rather you make mistakes than read it with a long lag between words. Make it sound natural. The monotone is boring. Make sure I can HEAR you--speak LOUDLY.  I will be the only person watching the video, unless you do a fantastic job and I show the class to brag on you. You can go to Spanish Online Dictionary to hear the words you don't know how to pronounce (see helpful links on left side of blog). Just try your best. I just want to see how you sound speaking Spanish. That is the point. =)

For consonants, to make it plural ADD ES not "s" to make it plural. Typo :( Example: intelectualES not intectuals. Same for hotel, hoteles. =)


Tarea:

Get pictures for pizza projects. Be finished, or almost finished with the first two sections

1) Yo soy and 3 pictures and adjectives to define who YOU are (personality/looks/characteristics)

2) Mi mejor amigo (amiga) es and 3 things about him/her

If you have lots of space, add more pictures! You don't have to describe them in the presentation. This way when we hang them in the hall they look great!

We will work on these next class and start preparing for presentations to occur AFTER Fall Break.

NEXT

Get started on your flashcards (hard copy or on quizlet). You will need the first column verbs. If you want to be ahead of the game like Arella, do flashcards for all the columns. You will need them next month and will have less homework then.

Start studying! We will review, but the quiz will be the Wednesday or Thursday following Fall Break. If you need TIME to process and remember the vocabulary, start now. This is simple recall so I won't spend a ton of time reviewing. I expect you to know them. We will use the verbs A LOT and I will expect you to know what they mean.

Also, don't forget your pronouns! After Fall Break the first thing to happen will be a quiz on them to see what you remember. Don't erase them from your memory!

EXTRA CREDIT!

If interested in the extra credit during Fall Break see me before or after school, or during lunch. It will take less than 5 minutes to explain and give you everything you need.

NOTEBOOKS

Notebook check next class. If you check the blog and others don't, let them know! I will expect ALL materials, notes, homework, etc. to be in there in a easy to understand way. Handing me lose paper out of your backpack won't fly. I'm doing a spot check making sure you can easily find your resources and notes. It's a big deal to have that stuff later on for tests and such. =)

Spanish Club

Start paying the $5 dues to me. Must be in person so you can sign off having given me the money. First meeting Wednesday during club times.
